I have heard, read and saw many photos of the story of Taj Mahal. It was my dream to experience to see and touch the Taj Mahal in person. Last May 10, 2012 I was able to visit India. The first Itinerary that I have in mind is to visit the ever famous Taj Mahal.
It was my Day 2 (May 12, 2012) – An early morning trip to Agra to see the Majestic beauty of the Taj Mahal. It was a 5 hours trip from where I am staying which is in Gurgaon. Long ride, but it is surely worth a trip. For the first time, the beauty that was only told to us in school was now real. I can touch it and even enter and saw the tomb of the the man behind the Taj Mahal, Emperor Shah Jahan and his loving wife Mumtaz Mahal.
A few or most of us know the story behind the Taj Mahal.
The Taj Mahal “crown of palaces”, is a white marble mausoleum located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal is widely recognized as “the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world’s heritage”. – Wikipedia
Here are the photos from my trip to Agra to visit Taj Mahal. Enjoy!
Yes, that’s me. As the tour guide told us. This is the center of the kingdom. And at my back is the main gate going to the Taj Mahal.
Presenting the Taj Mahal, It was a great beauty to see it in my own eyes. Finally the stories I’ve heard and the photos I’ve seen are finally here. It was an awesome site. The weather during this month (May) is around 40-44 degrees centigrade. Oh yes, it was summer and the sun shines brightly and the temperature was high. But due to my excitement, I really don’t mind. I just make sure I have a bottle of water with me during the whole trip.
The main palace of Taj Mahal where the bodies of the emperor Shah Jahan and his loving wife Mumtaz Mahal are. Covered with white stones and architecturally curved.
A view inside Taj Mahal and the detailed design of the palace.
It was a great experience. Tiring due to the heat, but it was worth the trip. Just always remember when you visit India during their summer season make sure you are ready for the high temperature and always bring a bottle of water when you travel around the area.
Until the next adventure from your Pinoy Adventurer.
